Girl, Interrupted.

Have you noticed how some people have this annoying habit of interrupting others in middle of a conversation? It has happened so many times with me, I have lost the count. But my husband has a very positive outlook towards it. According to him, we are in an age group/social group where most people are individualistic with strong points of view towards everything. To put them in a room and not to expect clashes would be pretty dumb. And in heat of the moment, one ends up cutting another mid sentence.
Agreed. But what if the interruption comes in the form of something that has no relation to the topic of discussion? The other day, hubby was seriously telling this lady friend of mine about his mother's health problems. This friend interrupts him with something as lame as " How many of you would like to have tea?" I mean, really??! I have no idea when was the last time I was so pissed!
But then it makes me wonder, how many times have I done the same thing to others? I do not have any conscious remembrance of such occurrence. But if I have done it to any of you out there, I sincerely apologize. And I solemnly swear, I would try not to cut anyone off, at least not deliberately, and provided you do not wrong me in anyway :D:D.

Things about me...

I took a leaf out of Anju's blog and am going to attempt saying some things about myself. Please dont hold your breath as I am not going to divulge anything too personal, at least not consciously, I will not :).
1) I am an insomniac, but I have learnt to live with it and enjoy it up to some extent.
2) I love to play dress up!
3) Am a sucker for accessories that I am not "supposed" to be wearing.
4) I hate people who love to give advises at the drop of a hat, but get deeply offended when someone else does the same to them!
5) Yep I am sensitive, but am definitely not moody.
6) I love to wear heels, but cant afford to wear anything longer than 3 inches:(.
7) I am a bookaholic, but give me a technical book, I will doze off in a minute.
8) I space out, and the spacing out gene has been passed from generation to generation on my mother's side.
9) I hate the fact that I listen and follow Srini's advises so often, but end up following the next time too, albeit grudgingly :).
9A) I love the fact that he heeds to my advises too though :)
10) My coffee addiction is on the rise.
11) I feel nauseous when I see coated tongues, food between the teeth, and dirty nails!
12) I hate (read fear) spiders and bed bugs with a passion.
13) Cockroaches come a close second.
14) I love love love animals.
15) I am nut crazy about dogs. yep, even the stray ones!
16) I firmly believe that men overestimate and women underestimate themselves.
17) I love chivalry :).
18) I don't like it when men treat a woman as another guy!
19) I am ridiculously competitive, but fortunately, that exists only through the course of the event. I believe I am a good winner, but an excellent loser :):).
20) I sometimes feel I speak too much, and that I should just shut up!

Gender bias in Shopping

Two of my friends and I went for shopping today and my friends who happen to be a couple started this argument about one of the most frequently asked questions...Is "shopping for pleasure" more of a woman's trait? This lady friend of mine strongly believes that regardless of how different two women are, one thing that commonly binds them is their passion for shopping. Though this is more of an observation on my friend's part than a proven norm, I, to a great extent agree with her.  But does that mean that men as a rule are averse to shopping? I beg to have a different opinion. I have seen enough men to declare that most love shopping. The difference just lies in their taste. I have seen men, who can spend hours and hours checking out gizmos and electronic gadgets but  not necessarily wanting to buy them. They are as happy window shopping as they are actually buying them. This, according to me, is the ultimate form of passion; to savor those moments spent in a shop checking out something that you love.
My verdict: Passion for shopping is more of an individualistic trait and not exactly dependent on the gender of the shopper.  Just the taste is different. Though I have to grudgingly admit that women, atleast marginally, are more prone to shopaholism. But hey, that could possibly be because it sure as hell doesnt make sense to have cell phones in 20 different colors and shapes and styles! :D:D

No idea...

After a long hiatus, I am back to touch base with my spot in the blog world (get it? blogspot:D). I really risked my reputation by sounding so like hubby darling with his absolute whacky (read PJ) sense of humor. Aaah! the perks of living with Srini :):).
My life in the past two months has been completely uneventful and utterly boring, with brief interesting moments. Interesting moments include shopping(not the grocery one, please), QA training, going for movies, playing the perennial couch potato..ok, not that one. Nothing brief about that. Not so interesting parts of my life...applying for jobs, playing the perennial couch potato.
I think that is good enough information in a blog titled "No idea".
Signing off till next time!
Ciao!!!

Another feather in my cap *smug smile*

tee hee.... its not that big a deal. But I finally managed to give the SAS exam today and passed it too. But the feather in the cap is not my passing the exam, but not having postponed it the gazillionth time. Icing on the cake is the passing part. Sounds silly? Actually you need to be in my shoes to understand what this is all about. I almost postponed it yesterday night again due to last minute panic attack, but fortunately couldn't as the deadline of postponing had passed. Guess even 'He' got bored of this last minute postponing game. I was so proud of myself that I went and spent hubby's cash on two tops. Yes, I have all the reasons to be smug :).

Sarah Palin, may you rot in Animal Hell!

After a long long time I am so charged up to write something! And this has been long due since I have felt this way about this woman for quite sometime now! It is funny how opinions about people change. I was actually pretty excited when I first came to know that Sarah Palin is going to be the VP nominee of  the Republican Party. Obviously, it was due to the fact that there is a possibility of a woman occupying the second highest(if not powerful) position in a country where politics is still considered to be a Man's domain. And the fact that she is very attractive added further zing to the equation since she would be subjected to further scrutiny, or in other words, criticism. But was I in for some rude awakening! She is not only politically challenged even though she is the Governor of a state, not only is she supremely smug for no rhyme or reason, but she is against something that I strongly believe in! This woman is an animal hater! She is a trophy hunter. She single handedly tried to bump polar bears off the endangered species list so that it will make oil drilling easier in the Arctic region. She promoted aerial hunting of natural predators in Alaska so that there wont be any competition for Moose and Caribou, and hunters can carry on with their favorite sport without intrusion! Really???
Read on if you want to know more about this woman and her "animal rights", that is her rights to kill an animal, so to speak:

Man! That felt good. I so needed to vent off! Now back to SAS (bleh!).

SAS? Or pain in the ass?

As cheesy as the title sounds, I have nothing against SAS on a personal level. It is just that after having been stuck with exams for a good part of my life (read 26 yrs, approx), I figured it is payback time with a job and perks associated with one. It so figures that my rendezvous with exams has not come to an end...yet. For those who have pretty much no clue about what I am talking about, SAS stands for Statistical Analysis Software programming. Have to give SAS Base programming certification exam to add value to my resume, and hopfully, to clinch me a job. Having postponed taking this exam for so long, I got an epiphany today that reinforced my fear and loath for exams (for the love of God, I need a synonym for this word!) all over again. Well, may be not an epiphany since this is something I have always known. Somehow for me, associating anything with examinations kicks out the fun part totally out of the window! On the other hand, exams motivate me to give my best. But I hate to study from an examination point of you. In short, I am so screwed.
Aaaand, its official. I am rambling, again. Gotta go back and study. And this time around, I am sooo not postponing, so HELP ME GOD!
